George from “Granny Flat Builders” was a speaker at our 2013 Info Night. He talks about how you can build an affordable Granny Flat (a true small home) and yield very high rental returns.
George talks about the legislation that permits the build, and what sort of build is required. He talks about the council DA and CDC (compliant development) process. George talks about the advantages of a granny flat and how the cash flow can pay it off in 5 to 7 years (think of paying off a second house in 7 years)… meaning that the flat becomes a positive cash flow income.
